Thinning hair after chemotherapy

There was an article in Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Bridges: Connecting Cancer Survivors Summer, 2014 issue that I found very informative.  Some CaSfA members have complained about thinning hair after the completion of chemotherapy.  Check out the article by Dermatologist, Dr. Mario E. Lacouture at http://www.mskcc.org/sites/www.mskcc.org/files/node/4333/documents/bridges-summer-2014.pdf

BRCA mutations in Ashkenazi Jews without a family history of breast or ovarian cancer

An interesting study was recently published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.  It was an Israeli study of Ashkenazi Jewish women, which showed that BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations occurred even in women who did NOT have a family history of breast or ovarian cancer.  The abstract can be found athttp://www.pnas.org/content/early/2014/09/04/1415979111.  A very good summary can be found from The Jerusalem Post:http://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Health/Israeli-research-team-Screen-all-Ashkenazi-Jewish-women-for-BRCA-mutations-374551
