BRCA mutations in Ashkenazi Jews without a family history of breast or ovarian cancer

An interesting study was recently published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.  It was an Israeli study of Ashkenazi Jewish women, which showed that BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations occurred even in women who did NOT have a family history of breast or ovarian cancer.  The abstract can be found at http://www.pnas.org/content/early/2014/09/04/1415979111.  A very good summary can be found from The Jerusalem Post:http://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Health/Israeli-research-team-Screen-all-Ashkenazi-Jewish-women-for-BRCA-mutations-374551.
